Is the Enemy Attacking You with Worry, Doubt or Fear?

Updated: Nov 3, 2020

Bible Verses to Meditate On: Matthew 6: 22 – 34; Psalm 37: 4; John 10: 10;

Ephesians 6: 11; James 1: 5 - 8; 2 Timothy 1: 7; Philippians 4: 4 – 9;

2 Corinthians 3: 17; 1 Kings 17, 18, 19

Worry, fear and doubt can be experienced simultaneously, and these feelings possess the ability to attack anyone.

I will discuss these topics together because of their interchanging nature

and how we often feel these emotions at the same time.

Personal speaking, I have experienced this in my life.

I had to pray and ask the Holy Spirit for assistance to overcome the emotions.

And to my surprise, the Holy Spirit used the biblical story of Prophet Elijah to educate me that these issues.

These feelings can attack us at any time, even after spiritual or physical victories.

These are examples of Prophet Elijah's victories:

1. 1 Kings 17 v 1 “With his word, no rain or dew for years in the whole Israel.”

2. 1 Kings 17 v 15-16 “the widow and her son last bin of flour and jar of oil never run dry”

3. 1 Kings 17 v 21-22 “reviving the widow's son from dead”

4. 1 Kings 18 v 37-38 “Calling fire from heaven to consume the sacrifice and prove God is God to the people of Israel”

5. 1 Kings 18 v 46 “outran king’s chariot to avoid heavy rain after he prayed for rain to fall”

These are some of the wonders that God used Elijah to do, yet when Queen Jezebel

threatened Elijah’s life, he ran and become discouraged from worry and fear. This lead to his depression and wanting to die. 1 king 19 v 1 – 4 AMP

What I learned from my own experiences is that the enemy uses a lot of strategies to attack us and steal our joy.

John 10 v 10 AMP “The thief comes only in order to steal and kill and destroy.

I came that they may have and enjoy life, and have it in abundance [to the full, till it overflows]”

Although, the enemy’s mission is (Steal, Kill and Destroy): your mind, peace, joy, marriage, family, work, and more… Jesus came to give YOU Life and enjoy it in overflowing abundance.

And part of the enemy’s tools is our doubt, fear, and worry.

There are many arsenals that the enemies use to fight us, for instance –

Ephesians 6 v 11 AMP “Put on the full armor of God (for His precepts are like the splendid armor of a heavily armed soldier), so that you may be able to (successfully) stand up against all the schemes and the strategies and the deceits of the devil”

The enemy uses doubt, worry and fear to steal our:

- peace of mind,

- joy of being in present,

- joy of future rest,

- awareness of blessings in our life,

- hindering our prayers and more.

Do Not Doubt God!

Merriam Webster dictionary defines Doubt as “Distrust – to lack of confidence in” or “to call into question the truth of” or “fear” or “suspect – an inclination not to believe or accept”.

Doubting God in any case or in prayer is bad because it makes us a double minded person who does not trust Him. This doubt leads to hindering of prayers.

James 1 v 5 to 8 AMP Gives us a few keys to follow –

- Ask in faith, without doubting (God’s willingness to help),

- Don’t be a person who doesn’t have an expectation from God,

- Don’t be a double-minded person,

- Don’t be an unstable and restless person in your ways (in everything you think, feel, or

decide)

Question: What good has your worry, doubt or fear done for you?

Matthew 6 v 27 AMP

"And who of you by worrying can add one [a]hour to [the length of] his life?"

Do not confuse doubt, worry and fear with caution and careful thinking; they are different.

In addition, I am not dismissing your concerns or your issues.

Neither is God going to dismiss them, because we have confidence that He hears our prayers and that God is Faithful.

1 John 5 v 14-15 NKJV “Now this is the confidence that we have in Him, that if we ask anything according to His will, He hears us. And if we know that He hears us, whatever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we have asked of Him.”

1 Peter 3 v 12 AMP “FOR THE EYES OF THE LORD ARE [looking favorably] UPON THE

RIGHTEOUS (the upright), AND HIS EARS ARE ATTENTIVE TO THEIR PRAYER (eager to answer), BUT THE FACE OF THE LORD IS AGAINST THOSE WHO PRACTICE EVIL.”

Do Not Let Fear Paralyze You!

Webster defines fear as: an unpleasant often strong emotion caused by anticipation or

awareness of danger, reason for alarm and more.

The enemy uses Fear to break your confidence in God and cripple our movement into the future God has for us.

Another word for this is fear tactics; For instance, if you are in fear, how

will you have the courage to move into your blessing?

Even when you see the door to your blessing wide open in front of you, due to you being in fear, you become paralyzed by fear and from achieving what God have for you or stop your blessing.

Fear, worry and doubt make it impossible to move out of your current situation!

“For God did not give us a spirit of timidity or cowardice or fear, but [He has given us a

spirit] of power and of love and of sound judgment and personal discipline [abilities that result in a calm, well-balanced mind and self-control].” 2 Timothy 1 v 7 AMP

Self-control is protection over your heart (This is very important because your life depends on it)!

Proverbs 4 v 23 AMP

“Watch over your heart with all diligence, for from it flow the springs of life.”

Proverbs 25 v 28 AMP

“Like a city that is broken down and without walls [leaving it unprotected],

Is a man who has no self-control over his spirit [and sets himself up for trouble].”

Fear, worry and doubt are tools the enemy uses to affect our mind.

The next time you have these feelings, reassure yourself with Word of God.

Think on Good Things, Instead of Worrying!

Lastly, worry is a very big one that affects us even with the simplest situations.

And it can even create depression, anxiety and more.

Webster defines worry as a mental distress or agitation resulting from concern usually for something impending or anticipated, anxiety.

But the Bible says in Philippians 4 v 4 – 9 AMP

“Rejoice in the Lord always [delight, take pleasure in Him]; again I will say, rejoice! Let your gentle spirit [your graciousness, unselfishness, mercy, tolerance, and patience] be known to all people. The Lord is near. Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. Finally, believers, whatever is true, whatever is honorable and worthy of respect, whatever is right and confirmed by God’s word, whatever is pure and wholesome, whatever is lovely and brings peace, whatever is admirable and of good

repute; if there is any excellence, if there is anything worthy of praise, think continually on these things [center your mind on them and implant them in your heart]. The things which you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things [in daily life], and the God [who is the source] of peace and well-being will be with you.”

Focus on these few points:

Worry is an important key in the enemy’s plan with keeping your mind busy, restless, and in a constant spiritual war.

- Don’t focus on what you don’t have but focus on God.

- Rejoice in the lord to build you up.

- Don’t worry or be anxious about anything because these emotions keep you in the enemy's trap.

- Pray and petition with thanksgiving – reflect on what God have done and thank Him.

- Focus your mind and meditate on good things – implant them in your heart.

This is how you become FREE from the enemy!

Lastly, one thing the enemy is counting on, is that we should be spiritual blind, because it greatly benefits him (the enemy).

Matthew 6 v 22 – 23 AMP

“The eye is the lamp of the body; so, if your eye is clear [spiritually perceptive], your whole body will be full of light [benefiting from God’s precepts]. But if your eye is bad [spiritually blind], your whole body will be full of darkness [devoid of God’s precepts]. So, if the [very] light inside you [your inner self, your heart, your conscience] is darkness, how great and terrible is that darkness!”

However, God have giving us His spirit which helps us and leads us into true freedom!

“Now the Lord is the Spirit, and where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty [emancipation from bondage, true freedom].” 2 Corinthians 3 v 17 AMP

There are many tactics the enemy uses to destroy us, but God has been wonderful to help us continue to defeat the enemy daily in our lives.

Focus on these few points:

Jesus said in Matthews 6 v 25 – 34 AMP

- Stop being worried or anxious (perpetually uneasy, distracted) about your life,

- Life is more than food, clothing, rent, and material things. (I’m not dismissing important things, and neither is God.)

- Worrying will not add anything to your life, but can take away from it.

- God takes care of birds in the air, fish in the sea, and He will take care of you.

- First and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) God's kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right – the attitude and character of God),

- And all these things will be given to you also (your heart’s desire)

Psalm 37 v 4 AMP

“Delight yourself in the LORD, And He will give you the desires and petitions of your heart.”

Prayer:

Dear Father,

Thank you, Father for your compassion, mercy, protection and favor. I appreciate everything you have done for me since I was born. Lord you’re wonderful in all your ways. Please open my eyes of understanding to know more of You and the victory Jesus had giving me through His death on the cross.
